My heart goes out to the Chicago Police Department and its members. Just this past week, a Chicago Police Officer, Andres Lasso, was gunned down by a vicious criminal who showed no remorse for his actions. Many of his colleagues are in mourning today as they lay this brave officer to rest. They have suffered multiple tragedies this past year. PTSD is real, and many Officers have to deal with the stress because of the changes in police work and lack of support. My thoughts and prayers are with men and women who everyday put on the uniform to risk their lives to protect our neighborhoods.
There is a war on the Police happening right now. Violent thugs are targeting our officers on and off-duty. Last year, Officer Danny Golden was off-duty breaking up his fight when he was shot. Thankfully, he survived the shooting, but he was left paralyzed. His fiancée, Casey, called out Mayor Lightfoot as disgusting for not even acknowledging his heroic actions.
The streets of Chicago are being taken over by violent criminals who do not fear the Police, prosecutors, or the judges because the city became a testing ground for a social activist's agenda. This started with Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx who wanted to relax arrests and criminal prosecutions of violent offenders. They cried these criminals were victims of society and deserved second chances, including those that were arrested for murder. They complained they could not afford bail. This led to the creation of Bill HB3653, which criminalizes the Police and gives a pass to the criminals. This bill was a slap in the face to every Cop in the city.
Because of this bill, after January of this year, thousands of murderers and violent offenders will be released back into the streets. If they cannot appear in court, they will be served with a summons to appear instead of a warrant to be placed under arrest to see a judge. Police will no longer have the authority to arrest criminals for most offenses, instead because of this bill they will be issued a ticket. Our prosecutors and courts have already failed us, and today it's only going to get worse. The Safe-T act will place officers' lives in danger because there will no longer be penalties to attack our Police. Currently, if a criminal that is in possession of a gun or drugs can no longer be pursued, let alone be arrested. Police officers' hands are tied because of the politicians!
I am calling out the “leaders” that created this anti-Police agenda. I'm calling out Lori Lightfoot, who was recently voted out of office and Kim Foxx who will soon be gone as well, for creating this atmosphere that criminalizes the Police. Furthermore, I'm also calling out the very Democrats that look the other way as this increase in crime goes on. They had a chance to stand for the police. instead, they voted and passed HB3653 because of politics and to fit their social activist agenda. The Republicans are the only ones standing up for our Police.
It's time that we rise and fight back against the anti-Police agenda created by the Democrats. When need to change the liberal agenda that supports criminals. We need to push to create bills to fight back against the violent thugs that are attacking our innocent family members and friends and to hold them accountable. I will not stand by as these criminals commit crimes without punishment.
We have to create stricter laws and build more jails. It's not a time for second chances, but more jail time. It's about saving innocent lives and protecting our brave Police Officers. We need to create more funding to challenge the drug cartels using Chicago as a hub for their operations. Illinois in 2021 had 300 overdose deaths, twice the number of homicides deaths in Illinois alone. Furthermore, paramedics responded to over 20,000 ambulance calls that year as well. We have to curb the flow of illegal guns that are falling into the hands of the carjackers. We have to combat violent homicides. 695 of the homicides in Illinois were committed in Chicago in 2022. The rest of Illinois combined had only 553 homicides. Chicago is out-of-control thanks to the Democratic agenda of second chances for violent felons. The States Attorney holds the blame for refusing to prosecute cases.
I am one of the founders of “Back the Blue”, a pro-Police organization that protested against those that supported this needless bill. I promise you this, I will back our Police and hold the criminals more accountable, putting them in jail by pressuring elected officials to hold them accountable
here they belong to save and to protect our families lives!
It's about pressuring those in office to safeguard our streets by passing common-sense laws that protect our families and young children. We have to think ahead to solve our crime problem. It's about prevention versus intervention. We have to secure our children's future by combatting crime now to provide them the safety and security they deserve.
As a mother, I want my daughters to be protected. As parents, we should come together united through our vote to make genuine change.
Chicago is going to have to make a choice on April 4th if they want to have more crime or less of it. We cannot afford to lose more brave Police Officers and other innocent victims.
Pray for Chicago and Officer Andres Lasso today. We are forever grateful for his sacrifice!
