What happened to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot welcoming illegal immigrants to Chicago? After all, the state of Illinois set aside 50 million dollars to accommodate them. Now she doesn't want them. Lori, say it isn't so! What does she care about anyway? She's gone May 15th!
Lightfoot has called out Texas Governor Greg Abbott for continuing to ship busloads of migrants from the Lone Star State. Lightfoot said Abbott's actions are "inhumane and dangerous" as Chicago does not have the resources to absorb more migrants.
Lightfoot sent Abbott a letter on Sunday, April 30, urging him not to send any more migrants. The Chicago leader said they received news that more individuals and families are being shipped to the city on Monday, May 1.
"Chicago is a welcoming city, and we continue collaborating with county, state, and community partners to rise to this challenge," Lightfoot stated. "The lack of confederation or coordination in an attempt to cause chaos and score political points has resulted in a critical tipping point."
Since April 2022, Abbott has been sending charter buses filled with migrants to other cities, like Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York. He claimed the move was to help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by "hordes of illegal immigrants." Lightfoot said Chicago has been receiving migrants since August 2022. She said they are caring for more than 8,000 men, women, and children with no resources of their own.
In New York City, if the newcomers aren't put up at the luxury cruise terminal that served the QE2, they could get $700-a-night midtown hotel accommodations with iconic Manhattan views. In St. Paul they found themselves whisked to expensive lodgings. In Denver, officials refer to them discreetly as "guests" and you needn't bother inquiring about their inns or addresses.
The people enjoying these free digs aren't privacy-conscious jet-setters, but the secrecy surrounding them might be comparable: They're some millions of migrants who have illegally crossed into the U.S. since the Biden administration relaxed most border controls.
No one knows exactly how many people have poured across the southwestern U.S. border since President Biden took office, or where they've gone since. The official number of encounters by Customs and Border Patrol stands at 5.2 million people, logged over the last two full federal fiscal years and fiscal 2023 through March. But that number is imprecise because it includes repeat encounters with the same people and omits the many who slipped into the country unnoticed by border agents.
Under President Biden, the U.S. smashed past the 200,000 monthly encounters mark for the first time in July 2021, and it has repeatedly topped that record in the months since. By comparison, in fiscal 2020, which ended a month before Biden's defeat of President Trump, the U.S. averaged 38,174 monthly encounters at the border, according to CBP figures.
Now get this....immigration has created an app for illegal aliens to register and to surrender themselves at the border for an immediate court hearing and release. The conditions are that they appear in the immigration court in six months. Do you actually think they will appear? Nope. They will use up whatever benefits and housing they can get and then bounce.
Because of an official lack of transparency, all those people and the circumstances by which they have arrived and remained have made it hard to take stock of the historic influx. Through midnight flights and buses from the border to far-flung locales, the administration has made it difficult to identify where the migrants are now living and receiving services. Also, unclear are the costs associated with the arrivals.
But flares have been sent up especially over immigrant sanctuary cities like New York, Denver and Chicago, which have long promised to house migrants. While those cities are providing housing and other services for a small fraction of the recent migrants, the costs are significant for these budget-strapped metropolises.
Denver plans to spend $20 million in the first six months of this year to provide housing to migrants. Officials say this works out to be between $800 and $1,000 per week per person.
In January, the state of Illinois turned down Chicago's request for more funds, saying it had already spent close to $120 million on its "asylum seeker emergency response" or roughly $33,000 per migrant. That's with our tax money. State and federal.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has asked for more than $500 million in federal aid, while pegging the city's spending at between $2 billion and $3 billion.
Other data points of the opaque costs of Biden-era illegal immigration include Massachusetts' estimate that it will need $28 million to launch a program to provide driver's licenses to undocumented residents.
These numbers are incomplete, in part because it is hard to separate the added cost of recent migrants from costs for the millions of undocumented immigrants who were in the country before the recent surge.
Illegal migrants cost taxpayers over $150 billion a year, according to this estimate up 30% since 2017.
A March study by the conservative Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that, after accounting for taxes paid by undocumented migrants, they cost taxpayers over $150 billion per year, a 30% increase since 2017.
How can we continue to take in immigrants not just from Mexico but now the entire world. Over 50 countries are sending their immigrants through Latin America to enter the U.S. illegally. Our biggest threat is the Chinese. 90% of these Chinese illegals are young, male, and fit. American intelligence believes them to be special forces or intelligence operatives.
Now they are flooding our market here in Chicago. It's getting so bad that the Chicago Police Union Lodge 7 is protesting. John Catanzaro the President of the Union has been posting health advisories for its Police members.
Now the immigrants are living in Police stations and officers are babysitting them by orders of the department and the city.
Many hotels are now turning away immigrants because of the havoc they are creating. Using our tax dollars instead of buying food with their stipend money, they are buying alcohol and drugs. They are fighting and getting arrested just to be released again.
Now the Chicago Police are having to deal with housing these illegals in their Police districts.
Today, I interviewed an officer that requested to remain anonymous that stated many of these “immigrants” are being housed in the lobbies of their district stations. Many of these illegals are sleeping on the floor near heaters, amplifying their body order. Now it's becoming a health risk as they are now spreading bed bugs and presently chicken pox.
She stated: "in district 14 it's really bad. Bodies are stacked up on each other with a stench coming from them because they haven't showered. This has created a safety and health hazard for our officers"
Because at some of these stations they are being overwhelmed with these illegals who have no access to officer's locker rooms with more bathrooms and showers (they are off limits due to officer safety) they are using not only the toilets to defecate, but also using the floors. When questioned why they were defecating on the floors, they explained it's the city worker's job to clean it up.
Unreal!
Officers are being encouraged to report to their superiors the health and security risks they are exposed to. Remember, many of these immigrants are having foreign diseases. The Chicago Police already lost many officers because of the COVID-19 crisis and now this!
Throughout all this, Governor Pritzker is silent. Why isn't he offering up the Thompson Center or State Police Districts to house these immigrants?
Remember that it's predicted that up to 500 thousand immigrants are expected to flood the Chicago market by 2025. This will create job losses as competition will rise. Union workers will be most affected as many immigrants will work union related jobs for contractors under the table putting union workers out of work.
Second is entitlements. These illegals will be first in line for welfare, housing, healthcare and, believe it or not, social security. They will crash the system. It will collapse.
Third is crime. Many of these illegals are unwanted from their home countries. Convicted criminals and deported felons. Many are hard core gang members such as MS-13. Crime will rise with their residency here.
Fourth is the flow of drugs. The Sinaloa cartel is dominating the drug trade and pushing fentanyl as their number one product eventually bypassing cocaine sales. Illinois had 20,000 overdose calls due to illegal drugs in 2022 alone. With open borders it will be worse. The fentanyl problem was created by Barack Obama. As President in 2012 he failed to meet financial obligations to China with our debt. So China flooded the drug market with fentanyl which is in higher demand than heroin. This is how China retaliated against us by making up for their financial losses.
It's time to rid ourselves of this immigration problem before it's too late.
Our children deserve that much!
So what is JB and the Democrats willing to do to take in these so-called "immigrants"? Because this state is already bankrupt and now the United States Supreme Court is striking down amnesty for them with voting rights now they are not wanted. If the court granted Biden and the Congress the authority to give them amnesty it would mean securing Democratic votes for the next 200 years. Their plans have failed.
Let's examine immigration in Illinois.
According to data from the American Immigration Council, as of 2022, there were approximately 1.82 million immigrants living in Illinois, which represents about 14.2% of the state's population. Of these immigrants:
- About 40% were naturalized citizens
- About 37% were non-citizens with legal status, including permanent residents, refugees, and asylees
- About 23% were undocumented immigrants
Immigrants in Illinois have been robbing Illinoisians of employment, with many working in industries such as healthcare, hospitality, construction, manufacturing and farming working "under the table" not paying taxes.
With this income, not only are they not feeding into the tax base to fuel our government, many receive entitlements for things such as welfare and healthcare including housing but they are not spending to stimulate the local economy. Instead, many send their wages back to their home country most likely to fund more immigration.
How is this fair to us? Just last year as these immigrants were relocated to Illinois by Joe Biden thousands were being housed in $200.00 a night hotels with $100.00 stipends PER FAMILY member including young children to eat. Instead this money was also being sent home and the rest was being used to purchase alcohol and drugs according to the Police who would respond to these hotels for disturbances including domestic violence, robbery, theft, drug use, rape, battery and MURDER!
This is the reason the hotels would rather take a loss than to have these illegal aliens flood their hotels with bed bugs and other diseases. Chicago and other suburban villages were reporting on immigrant camps in front of the hotels with them hanging laundry on clotheslines and laying on the grass drinking beer and grilling out!
I have no compassion for local government. They wanted this and now their plan backfired. Their solution now is to convert huge box stores into "refugee" centers. It's bad enough section 8s are flooding the suburbs and now this?
We need to begin deportations instead of becoming hotels for these illegals. We need to cut them off. It begins with deputizing our Police.
ICE can deputize Chicago police as ‘customs officers,’ worrying advocates. Police officials say the agreement is to combat anti-terrorism and gang violence but some activists aren’t buying it.
An agreement between the Chicago Police Department and federal immigration authorities draws questions about the city’s “sanctuary status."
An agreement signed by former Supt. Eddie Johnson allows Immigration and Customs Enforcement to “designate certain employees” of the Chicago Police Department as “customs officers.”
Those officers are “authorized to enforce the full range of federal offenses” but are not allowed to “enforce administrative violations of immigration law,”
CPD says there are no department employees currently deputized as “customs officers” but defended the agreement, saying it allows police to investigate drug trafficking, human trafficking, gangs and financial crimes through Homeland Security Investigations, which is a branch of ICE.
Chicago, like many other major cities, has the authority to appoint officers to conduct joint state and federal investigations with Homeland Security Investigations.
Chicago amendments bar CPD from assisting ICE, Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations in enforcing civil immigration operations and requires the department to keep track of every request for assistance it receives. So there goes that idea!
So what shall be done now? Keep voting Democrat and supporting their policies and this is what you will get. Good luck with that!
