I was first approached about this candidate Kelvin Coburn, by John Anthony from the radio show “Black and Right” He told me “Val, meet this guy, he's another me” So, I heard John out and found Kelvin to be more interesting than what John was selling to me. Kelvin is an auditor by trade and a successful businessman. He is employed by the State of Illinois and understands government.
What's truly amazing is that he is a Black Conservative Republican. Not only that, he's Grassroots. Of the people and by the people.
He decided to run challenging another Republican in the 2024 GOP primary because he feels he is a better fit for the district because he chooses to be a public servant versus a politician. He feels that the people of the district are looking for a leader, and he fits the mold that they are seeking for genuine change.
Furthermore, he is facing a freshman Representative, Mike Coffey in the 95 Illinois House District that was recently appointed to fill Representative Tim Butlers seat after he resigned from the Illinois House.
The difference between Coburn and Coffey is night and day. Coburn is the people's choice and a testimony of this is Coburn's following among the Grassroots, including those like Sen. Darren Bailey. At the Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair, Coburn felt right at home with his immediate family that he brought with him and his Republican family there at the event.
I had a privilege to meet Kelvin face to face, and I asked him why he wanted to run. He stated: “Val because I love my family. I want to prepare for them a future free from our mistakes. It is time to prepare my grandchildren for a future, so they can live in prosperity and not to struggle. I refuse to allow any Illinoisan to struggle under my watch. My plan is to prepare this state by fixing the economy and having safer streets”
Amazing… This man, Kelvin, is also an example to others with his beautiful wife and proud sons that love their father.
I urge you to support Kelvin and his plan to save Illinois. He is honest and sincere, and he's made the promise to answer to you the people and not some other political agenda. I'd vote for him and you should too!
